Going North...

I left home at 6:30am Friday - Aer Lingus put me onto an earlier flight than scheduled, so I ended up in Heathrow early... where i discovered that my BA 11am flight to Helsinki was cancelled. Hung around till 16:10 for another flight - Finnair, which was delayed. Checked that my luggage was on board. It was.

Got off the plane 10pm local time Helsinki. Before I even got to baggage, I was paged...told my baggage was on another plane somewhere between Heathrow and Helsinki. Damn!

Crashed out in a colleague's place in Helsinki. Slept badly, expecting my bags to be delivered. Nada.
6:30am, phoned them, they told me they could fly the bags on the next available flight north. Damn! I had my hardcore McMurdo Parka (http://www.backcountryoutlet.com/outlet/TNF0337/c11/s20/The-North-Face-McMurdo-Parka-Mens.html), a t-shirt, and a long sleeved warm t-shirt thing, a hat, gloves. No seriously warm gear.

Dashed after colleagues who had departed for 7am train. Half awake in -15C, I had to find my way to the station - which I did, and then got on the train north. Two trains, 10 hours to get to Rovaniemi - just souith of the Arctic Circle. Changed to a bus - five hour trip, watching the northern lights to Inari. My bag was sitting there, waiting for me, when I arrived - 10pm Saturday. All me thermals.
