Dubya, Osama and the missing 28 pages

So. Bush has rejected a request from Saudi Arabia to declassify US intelligence on the Gulf state's alleged links to the September 11 2001 attacks on New York and Washington.

As you can imagine, the Saudi’s are pretty pissed. Prince Saud described the omission as an "outrage" that "wrongly and morbidly" accused Saudi Arabia of complicity in the attacks.

He went on to say: "It is an outrage to any sense of fairness that 28 blank pages are now considered substantial evidence to proclaim the guilt of a country that has been a true friend and partner to the United States for over 60 years,"

And indeed they have been good friends. One of the darkest secrets of the current White House administration is just how chummy they all are. Not least, the very interesting relationship between the Bush and Bin Laden families.

As Greg Palast has reported:

“According to insiders, FBI agents had wanted to check into two members of the bin Laden family, Abdullah and Omar, but were told to stay away by superiors -- until September 13, 2001. By then, Abdullah and Omar were long gone from the United States.”

Why? Why did the White House not want the FBI digging into these men’s files? The answer: Carlyle.

To quote Palast again:

“Carlyle owned United Technologies, the maker of our fighter jets. Carlyle has the distinction of claiming both of the presidents Bush as paid retainers. Dubya served on the board of Carlyle's Caterair airplane food company until it went bust. The senior Bush traveled to Saudi Arabia for Carlyle in 1999. The bin Ladens were among Carlyle's select backers until just after the 9/11 attacks, when the connection became impolitic.”

That’s right kids. Both Presidents Bush were in business with the Bin Ladens.

So, we have to ask: does the missing 28 pages detail more than just information on those involved in the 9/11 atrocities? Does it in fact contain the names of various Saudi businessmen whom the Bush’s were pally with? Would the information lead to more information and yet more damning reports about the American President’s business dealings and partners?
