The complete lack of Freedom of Information

the dail, yesterday A thread on the p45 discussion forums has picked up on the subject of Freedom of Information Requests within the Republic of Ireland. It transpires that Fianna Filth have been at it again.

It seems that McCreevy et al, not content with lying through their teeth with a regularity only comparable with the laboured breathing of an asthmatic gofer, have decided to make it even more difficult to get solid information on the internal workings of our Government. They are doing this by slapping a hefty levy on anyone who has the sheer gall to make an FOI request. It can now cost you up to €150 to make one. You can read about this at this article.

Lest any of you consider this pricing fair, consider this: we live in a country where half the dail has been before tribunals, our government got elected on a pack of lies about the true state of public finances and where the taoiseach promised us a refereendum on PfP and then promptly went and joined it anyway.

Yes, I bloody well want access to government files and no-one should attempt to stand in the way of this. And when the minister for backhanders allows 'Greasy Spoon Developers' to build a 4000 acre housing estate on the green belt formerly known as your back garden, so will you.

This is immoral. This is wrong. This is pure Fianna Filth.
