Barry Kavanagh’s What the Ostrich Sees in the Sand

Novel for sale in PDF format:
An affluent couple decide to drop everything, withdraw from life and make a model village in their living room. The story features many amusing characters, including the couple’s son, who is conducting an “experiment” in their attic, and an old man who lives in a caravan writing “tracts”.
This is primarily a fable about order and chaos, and the cycle of creation and destruction, replete with mystical analogies, but as it was written in the 1990s, it is also a surreal satire of the new materialist Ireland, and an apprehensive exploration of what the “creative” life might mean.
