The Blather 2006 Award for Crap Journalism

A hotly-contended category no doubt, but surely the lame, half-assed ‘bleedin’ obvious’ nonsense that the Guardian plastered on their front page today wins it hands down. Speaking about Tom Stephens, the 37-year-old who the media have practically convicted for the Ipswich murders, they described the man’s Myspace page as follows:

‘The grainy main photograph on the 37-year-old’s profile on the top social networking website shows him smiling and wearing a fishing hat. He has eight people listed in his “friends space”.
Clicking on the photographs section reveals six images of Mr Stephens, including one in which he is holding up a can of custard and another in which he appears to be wearing eyeshadow.’

Well, whoop dee-fucking-do, you really earned your Pulitzer there lads.

  1. Lmao…The media are really starting to piss me off…Every single time the man leading this investigation holds a press conference they pick out every little word they say and blow it up out of proportion and try and make a riddle out of it…for fuck sakes just try and broadcast the goddamn ways of contacting the police so we can catch this killer! And stop condemning the police who are doing the best they can! ASSES!
