UFO in Chicago

Weather phenomena? Baloon? Intergalatic booze-cruise? Or was it just, and I only mention this because, you know, it was seen above an airport, a plane? Yahoo news reports:

‘CHICAGO – Federal officials say it was probably just some weird weather phenomenon, but a group of United Airlines employees swear they saw a mysterious, saucer-shaped craft hovering over O’Hare Airport last fall.
The workers, some of them pilots, said the object didn’t have lights and hovered over an airport terminal before shooting up through the clouds, according to a report in Monday’s Chicago Tribune.’

Seems doubtful. I would hope experienced pilots and other airport personnel would recognize a plane, as illustrated from the quoted portion of your text:
“The workers, some of them pilots, said the object didn’t have lights and hovered over an airport terminal before shooting up through the clouds…”
Furthermore, airplanes don’t hover or fly vertically. Here’s an interview with one of the airport workers who witnessed the event. Seems rational and pretty sincere to me. Is it too much to ask a blogger to do “a little” homework before posting their petty, unfunny, and cheap little snarks? Well, I guess if the mainstream media can’t do that, it /is/ too much to ask.

  2. well, the witnesses that reported it are employees at an airport, not just any airport, but a really really big one. and a few of the witnesses were pilots. im SURE that they are use to seeing planes flying in the sky and by now can tell the difference between a plane and somthing thats not. considering they see more planes in a day than most of us see in a week.
it was also not too far above the terminal so they could see it pretty clearly

  3. Why is it pilots and air line empoyees are treated like idiots when they report on what they see. Everyone is so frightened of the unknown they laugh and act like the person reporting it is nuts. They are just scared!!! Why we dumb ones on earth think we are all there is in the whole universe. I saw three space ships here in Texas 25 years ago and it was in the middle of the night on a emty road. Me, my husband and two sons saw them clearly right over our car. Do these reporters realize we are only a dot in the universe. These are the same people that voted for Bush! Wake up!

  6. Okay… pilots are supposed to have the clearest vision among all the personnel in an airport… they can’t mistake what they see… They’ve seen lots of aircraft throughout their careers as pilots and they definitely know it when they see one… This means that they know what they saw and it’s not an (Earth)aircraft.
