Blather shortlisted for the Irish blog awards a-bleedin-gain

For the second year running, I think, Blather has been shortlisted for the Irish Blog Awards. We’re nominated for “Best Arts and Culture Blog – Sponsored by Poetry Ireland”. Jesus, if only they knew.
Culture? The nearest any of this shower ever get to culture is when they clean out their fridge (which we pay people to do for us).

Nat King Coleslaw is also nominated for his Snackbox Diaries post AbuseOS from TwinkSoft in the “Most Humorous Post” category. We keep linking to it from Twink’s Wikipedia entry, but some fucker keeps removing the link.
We didn’t win last year. As a result, the judge that we slipped the brown envelope to is now face down in a bog somewhere in Co. Longford. Fortunately for everyone, we did managed to scoop up the Prestigious Blather Awards

“Despite the prolific downing of bottles, jeroboams and even buckets of alcoholic liquid, no-one approached the toilets; the tension ran so high in that room that we just sweated it out.” More »

They’ll be cleaning the walls of the venue for years to come. No word of a lie.
Just like last year, I got an email, inviting me to the awards ceremony on March 3rd. Just like last year, I’m on board the Greenpeace ship Esperanza. Last year, I was off the west coast of Africa, blogging. This year, I’m in the Ross Sea, Antarcticablogging.
Typical. Too busy blogging to even be massaged with Guinness and Baileys, in a bathtub with a horde of blog groupies.

  1. Enough with your irony. We deserve an (if not “the”) arts and culture award. Look @ (and I mean “@”)all the nice pictures we include in our blogs, and our fantastic “brainy” series like Diggin in the Dirt and Waking the Dead, not to mention all the commentary on the Norwegian arts I have made on North. No modesty now Walsh. It’ll get ye nowhere in the cut-throat world of bloggery. We are so great I expect us all to be promptly assassinated to prevent us from winning.

  2. he shan’t. i’m in london. daev’s doing a vidjo link-up (very oscars) at the awards. there are rumours nat king coleslaw will be there. he was demanding a helicopter, but our people are talking to his people. it’ll be cool.

  3. Well, WE have a helicopter, but we’re currently off the south coast of New Zealand.
I even got up out of bed at 8am on a Sunday to do the video conference call, but unfortunately the organisers were unable to circumvent the venue’s firewall to do the video conference. Oh well!
