UnLtdWorld: Finally, a social network worth joining

Posted by damien

Yours truly is quite a fan of the 'owl "social networking thing". In fact, those of you who are unfortunate enough to actually know me will be all too familiar with the fact that I've been whoring myself on just about any site that will let me log-in for about the last two years. All joking aside, it's my job to do this these days as I find myself suddenly responsible for the development, moderation and upkeep of three of the bastarding things in my job. But that's another story.

Anyway, the game has changed. Most of us have fallen out of love with the increasingly irritating and right-wing Facebook, are bogged off with Bebo (was it ever anything other than awful?), have watched trig.com descend into vapid shite and have long given up any hope of myspace getting their act together and providing anything approaching a decent interface. There's been a few recent pretenders to the throne (orkut, badoo et al) but they're all variations on a theme: "Here's me, my tits/abs, my tattoos and cats and a long-winded warning about my inalienable right to shout abuse at whoever I like". Wonderful.

But finally, someone has created a social network which is easy on the eye, well-designed, intuitive, and, most importantly, has the express purpose of fostering and helping social change. Meet UnLtdworld.com.

UnLtdworld.com is the brain child of Alberto Nardelli and co. who says that the site "connects socially-minded people and helps them make a positive impact in the real world." You can read more about the project at the Guardian Tech blog (from the ever-delectable Jemima Kiss).

Anyway, go visit UnLtdWorld.com. You never know, you might see me lurking on your page. *sniff sniff*
