Steorn Get Stomped

Posted by damien

Steorn? Remember them? The Irish energy company that said it had found a way to violate the laws of energy conservation to create a 'clean, free and constant' power, back in 2006?

Widely ridiculed for their assertions, Steorn issued a challenge to the scientific community to form a jury of peers to pore over the veracity of their claims.

In time a jury, comprised of 22 scientists, chosen by Steorn was created to do just that. And today they announced their findings:

'In August 2006 the Irish company Steorn published an advertisement in the Economist announcing the development of "a technology that produces free, clean and constant energy". Qualified experts were sought to form a "jury" to validate these claims.

Twenty-two independent scientists and engineers were selected by Steorn to form this jury. It has for the past two years examined evidence presented by the company. The unanimous verdict of the Jury is that Steorn's attempts to demonstrate the claim have not shown the production of energy. The jury is therefore ceasing work.

Ouch.

Of course, this doesn't seem to have deterred Steorn one bit, who claim that they've fixed the problem and will be rolling out their planet-saving gizmo, the wonderfully named 'Orbo', later this year. Here's hoping that in addition to solving the world's energy crisis, saving millions of lives and ushering humanity into a new era of peace, tranquility and general toe-wiggling, sitting-in-the-garden-drinking-cold-beer-happiness and joy joy joy, it'll also give us all a cracking great horn a la Woody Allen's sleeper.

Hat-tip to Gizmodo

I don't remember my Zeitgeist login so thought I'd post this as a comment.

Anyway, story in The Guardian today about 2 midget wrestlers drugged to death in their hotel room in Mexico by female robbers.

A classic Zeitgeist tale, I'm sure you'll agree :-)

You just couldn't make that class of thing up.

Indeedy.

Looks like the obsessive US woman told repeatedly to "stay away from the rabbits" is gonna try and give those midget wrestlers a run for their money though:
