A rare form of bumblebee known as the ‘one with the red arse’ has vanished from Irish farms over the last two years a conference on agriculture in UCD has heard.
Described as being black with a red tail, the bee was completely missing during a two-year period when a study by Veronica Santorum of the University of Limerick was being carried out.
