You wouldn’t know it from looking at the news, but the Chernobyl disaster took place 19 years ago today. At least 3.3 million Ukranians have been adversely affected, but the truth is that the figure must be much higher. And with the average monthly compensation for those affected by the accident never much more than the equivalent of £26, this is not yesterday’s news…
