The Observer reported on PM Gordon Brown’s recent so-called scholarly speech: “JS Mill, Milton and Alexis de Tocqueville were all quoted. But one name stood out to aficionados of Brownism: Gertrude Himmelfarb, the 87-year-old American historian.” And who is she? Well, I did some digging on the web and found out she’s a neo-con. And I found this amusing demolition of the Himmelfarb book that “takes pride of place” on Brown’s bookshelf.
