Photo Exhibition, Sligo: "Parallel Worlds"

Lough Gur

The enchanted Lough Gur, Limerick

Good grief, Ladies and Gintelmin, it's my first photographic exhibition. It all started with a phone call a couple of weeks ago, from Paul Cunningham at Blue Raincoat Theatre in Sligo, who are about to stage a production of my favourite novel, The Third Policeman, by Flann O'Brien. Paul asked me to help out spreading the word about the play, and invited me as a guest speaker to a Q&A session at the Factory Performance Space in Sligo on October 18th. Then he mentioned that he'd been checking out my photographs - and the discussion developed to the point that I've got a bunch of 20x13 prints at the framers this morning, no small thanks Mrs. Blather (Heather).

The exhibition, Parallel Worlds, will be running at the Factory from October 16th to November 3rd, and will feature some of my pictures from travels over the last couple of years, with a decidedly otherworldy theme, featuring everywhere from Alaska to Antarctica, and a quick stop at the magical lake of Lough Gur, Co. Limerick along the way.

The exhibition is in partnership with Blue Raincoat's production of Flann O'Brien's The Third Policeman, a story of a crime gone awry, a journey into a weird vision of hell in the form of a rural Garda station, and a brief, unrequited love affair between a man and his bicycle.
