A floating church owned by controversial Tridentine Bishop Michael Cox sank off the Aran Islands last year after it went on fire, an investigation has found.
However, the Marine Casualty Investigation Board says that because the hull of the 82-foot ‘Patriarch’ was so badly burned, it is not possible to conclude satisfactorily that an electrical fault had been the cause of the fire, which broke out on board the vessel on September 1, 2004.
“I had consecrated the boat as a floating church and it was my plan to travel around the coast and challenge the abortion ship which offers abortions,” said Bishop Cox.
