Child Released from Guantanamo

Mohammed Jawad was released from Guantanamo Bay on 24 August. He had been held there since he was 12. Detained by Afghan police who threatened to kill his family if he did not ‘confess’, he ‘admitted’ to ‘throwing a grenade’. Because of this, he ended up in Guantanamo Bay for 7 years with no trial because there was never any credible evidence against him. The Americans did their best to cover up their embarrassment and making it look like they were detaining ‘terrorists’ at Guantanamo but finally Jawad is no longer a political pawn and has been released home to Afghanistan, where the USSR, sorry, the USA, is still at war.
