No Smiling for Passport Photos in Germany

BERLIN – Germans were ordered Thursday to stay serious when having their photographs taken for new passports, wiping away any grins, smirks or smiles so that biometric scanners can pick up their facial features.

So its not just the Brits who keep a stiff upper lip.

  1. That’s not just in Germany. My friend works in a camera shop in Dublin and she says that that when they take passport photos the customer is not allowed to smile. Aparently some customers came back to the shop because their passports had been refused due to the fact that they were smiling.
