Dublin Beer thief fecks off with millions of pints of Guinness

Pure Genius – from The Irish Times:

A man drove a truck into the brewery on Victoria Quay, Dublin 8, yesterday evening; hitched up a trailer containing 450 kegs of different beers; and drove off into Dublin’s traffic just as rush-hour got under way.

Possibly my favourite crime, ever. I have reservations though:

The haul contained 180 kegs of Guinness, 180 kegs of Budweiser and 90 kegs of Carlsberg and has a total value of €64,000. In the pubs, the loot would represent approximately 40,500 pints and a whopping bar tab of approximately €160,000.

I’m quite shocked by this. This genius criminal had the chance to steal 450 kegs of Guinness, but instead steals some Budweiser? What the hell was he thinking? Besides, a truly discerning stout drinker would have stolen some Beamish
The Gardai are now doing random breadth tests of truck drivers, in the hope of finding the culprit.

  1. Although I agree you on the missed opportunity of a complete load of Guinness. It’s the perfect time of year for a mixed haul like that to keep a variety of festive punters in grog.
